What is Castile Soap?
Castile (pronounced: ka·steel) soap originated from the Castile region of Spain and was traditionally made from 100% olive oil. Over the centuries, castile soap has now come to refer to soaps made from vegetable oils. Most castile soaps are primarily olive oil based, and can also contain differing amounts of plant oils such as coconut, palm, castor, sweet almond and sunflower amongst others.

All our Tsuki natural handmade soaps, both bar soaps and liquid soaps are made with 100% vegetable oils. Our soaps are made with mostly olive oil as its ingredient, and with a combination of other oils like coconut, sweet almond, rice bran, sunflower, castor and cocoa butter.
The combination of oils adds to a overall complexity to the soap that includes bubbliness and moisturizing properties that make our soap wonderful to use.

What are the benefits of Castile Soaps?
Commercial bath washes and foams (they don’t call them soaps if they aren’t made from oil + lye) can have a drying effect on the skin because they combine detergents and washing chemicals to create the cleansing effect. For eg, SLS, SLES.
Our Castile soaps are formulated to be extra gentle with moisturizing and nourishing as our primary goal while providing a gentle cleansing. Our soaps may be low foaming, especially our Liquid Castile Soaps, but you will feel the cleansing nature of the soaps without it drying your skin out. Additionally, glycerin is naturally created in the making of soap from oils and is retained in our bar and liquid soaps that adds to its moisturizing properties.
Thus, our soaps are gentle for everyday use, for frequent hand washing and even for your face.
